Screen recordings that zoom themselves.

Record your screen like you always do. Dolly zooms in on every click, follows your cursor like a camera on rails and exports a video that looks edited.

How it works

Press record. Click. The camera follows.

  1. 01

    Press record

Pick a display and hit Record. After a three-second countdown, use your app the way you always do.

  2. 02

    Click

Every click lands on the timeline as a zoom. The camera starts moving early, so it arrives right on the click.

  3. 03

    The camera follows

Clicks close together share one shot, so the camera doesn't bounce. Click somewhere else and a new zoom follows you there.

Stop. It's already edited.

Stop recording and the wallpaper, padding, rounded corners, shadow and zooms are all there. Every zoom is a block you can drag, stretch or delete.

Smooth cursor

Shaky hand. Steady cursor.

Dolly replaces your shaky mouse path with a clean glide between the points you actually clicked. It's a spring run over the whole recording, and the cursor still lands right on each click.

Questions

Before you hit record.

Is it really free?

Yes. Recording, auto-zoom, smooth cursor and 1080p export are free forever, and the code is MIT licensed. Pro is a one-time $9.99 for 4K, 60 fps, captions, webcam, GIF export and the vertical cut.

How do I activate Pro?

After you pay you get a license key on Whop. Paste it in Settings once, and Pro keeps working offline. One key works on up to 3 devices.

Does anything track me?

The Dolly app has no analytics and only goes online to check a Pro license. This website counts visits and downloads without cookies or stored IP addresses.

Which permissions does it need?

On a Mac you allow Screen Recording, Input Monitoring, the microphone and the camera once in System Settings. macOS's wording mentions keystrokes, but Dolly only asks for mouse events, so it never sees what you type. On Windows you only allow the microphone and camera.

Why does my computer warn me when I open it?

The builds aren't signed yet. The README shows the one extra step on Mac and Windows. Until they're signed, macOS may ask for permissions again after an update.

Can I edit the zooms?

Every zoom is a block on the timeline. Drag it, stretch it, change the zoom level or delete it.

How was it built?

With Claude Code on Opus 5.5. The full source is on GitHub.
